EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. - There have not been a lot of positives for the New York Giants this season. The exception is rookie receiver Odell Beckham Jr.Week in, week out, Beckham has become an offensive catalyst with one-handed catches, key plays and touchdowns.Beckham added to his impressive collection of highlights by catching three touchdown passes and coming within one reception of tying the teams single-game record in a 24-13 win over Washington that might have gone another way had the Redskins not lost a touchdown on the final play of the first half on a video review. This guy fuels the entire team, fuels the entire stadium, Giants defensive captain Antrel Rolle said of Beckham. Hes an exciting guy to watch. Hes a hell of a player. He goes out there and makes plays and plays beyond the Xs and Os.Beckham had 12 receptions for 143 yards, with touchdowns covering 10, 35 and 6 yards. He has a team-high nine touchdowns and his 972 yards receiving are a team record for a rookie, beating Jeremy Shockeys 894.Hes always upbeat walking around and has that energy, said Eli Manning, who completed 23 of 34 passes for 250 yards, targeting Beckham 15 times. Its exciting when the ball gets in his hands. After missing the first four games with a hamstring injury, Beckham has 71 catches, including 61 in his last seven games. The way weve played the last couple of games gives us a better feel for how were going to play. For me, its making the most of my opportunities, Beckham said. The win was the second straight for the Giants (5-9) after seven consecutive losses. The Redskins (3-11) simply found a new way to lose. They blew a touchdown and command of the game on a fumble by Robert Griffin III as time expired at the end of the first half.Griffin scrambled for an apparent 8-yard touchdown and a 17-7 lead, diving over the pylon, and then running on to the field and spiking the ball with emphasis. But a video review by referee Jeff Triplette showed that Griffin lost control of the ball diving over the pylon and the play was ruled a touchback. The lead stayed at 10-7.We shouldnt have let that play alter the game for us. Ultimately, it did, Griffin said. Its a touchdown. Thats how we all felt, everybody in the locker room, coaches included. My understanding is, if the ball passes the plane and you have control of the ball, its a touchdown in every game that Ive ever seen. They decided that it wasnt today. The call incensed veteran receiver Santana Moss so much that he stormed after the officials and was ejected.Triplette said Moss was ejected for inappropriate language directed first at him and then at field judge Alex Kemp. Some things learned from the Giants second win over Washington this season:SACK ATTACK: Since losing to Dallas on Nov. 23 in large part because they could not get a pass rush late against Tony Romo, the Giants have recorded 22 sacks in the last three games. They had seven against Washington, with Jason Pierre-Paul and Johnathan Hankins getting 2 1/2 apiece. Pierre-Paul has 6 1/2 in the last three games.GRIFFIN IN THE MIX: Take away the fumble and Griffin played very well after Colt McCoy aggravated a neck injury on the Redskins opening series. He was 17 of 28 for 236 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He also had five rushes for 46 yards. I know its not been a fun year, said Griffin, who recently lost his starting job. Weve had a lot of turmoil, a lot of things going on, but at the end of the day, you have to get out there, suit up, and when your number is called, be ready to play.GIANTS COVERAGE: While the Giants defence only gave up 13 points, there are times it still looks lost. Washington had 10 plays of 17 yards or more, including at least five to receivers who were left wide open. Running back Chris Thompson was uncovered on a 9-yard TD pass from Griffin.NO RUN: The Redskins run defence was outstanding, forcing Manning to go to Beckham again and again. New York was limited to 49 yards on 22 carries — a 2.2 yard average. Making things worse for the Giants, Rashad Jennings reinjured an ankle and had one carry.BECKHAM NOT PERFECT: Beckham made a foolish play trying to field a Tress Way punt in the closing seconds. After chasing his teammates away from the ball, he tried to pick it up, didnt handle it and Washington recovered at the Giants 29. I was being lackadaisical, he said. Too relaxed. I went and apologized to the special teams coach because that is just not acceptable.___AP NFL website: and Francisco Rodriguez Jersey . Gagnon was 1.37 seconds off the lead in 16th after the super-G portion but went ahead of the field after posting the second fastest time in the slalom run. "Its really exciting, a magical moment," said Gagnon, who wasnt even born when Gerry Sorensen won a combined event in Puy St. Vincent, France, on Jan. 8, 1984 for the last triumph by a Canadian woman. "My teammate Erin Mielzynski won two years ago in Ofterschwang. She was the first Canadian woman to win in slalom in like 40 years," Gagnon said. "That was unbelievable and I didnt expect our team to make history again." Gagnon finished in an overall 2 minutes, 5.55 seconds to beat second-place Michaela Kirchgasser of Austria by 0.32. Maria Hoefl-Riesch of Germany trailed Gagnon by 0.39 in third. Nicole Hosp of Austria, who led the competition after the super-G, finished fourth. "Its amazing. I was quite surprised," said Gagnon, whose only previous podium came in a slalom in Are, Sweden, in 2012. "I didnt expect that after the first run. I knew I had to do a really good slalom run to be on the podium. I just tried to do my best and it looks like the pieces of the puzzle have come together." The super-combined format was introduced at the start of the 2005-06 season to replace the classic combined races, which consisted of one speed run followed by two slalom legs. No Canadian skier -- male or female -- had ever made the podium in a super-combined before. The last Canadian to get in the top three of any combined event was Emily Broydon, who came third in San Sicaro, Italy, in 2005. The combination of super-G and slalom at Sundays event suited Gagnon, who was in the top 10 of two super-G races this season and in the top six of all four slaloms. "I am happy with my season so far and this tops it off for sure,&quuot; said Gagnon, coming off a disappointing season following her first top-three finish at the end of the 2011-12 campaign.dddddddddddd "I ended that season really strongly and I came in the season after and I was expecting a lot," Gagnon said. "But I was trying too hard. This year, I just try my best. I know I have done all the work in training." Second-place Kirchgasser made an even bigger jump as she climbed from 20th after the super-G. "I knew something would still be possible (after the first run)," said the Austrian. "But after my slalom run, I first thought it wasnt enough." Kirchgasser failed to finish five races this season, but said she had forgotten about 2013 already, adding "2014 has been really good so far." Hoefl-Riesch regained the lead in the overall standings one day after she lost it to Austrias Anna Fenninger after Saturdays downhill. The German has 731 points and Fenninger, who finished eighth, 709. Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein is third with 673. "Of course I am really happy," Hoefl-Riesch said. "But theres also a little bit of disappointment. It wasnt perfect skiing from me. And I missed second place by 0.07 yesterday and again today. But all in all it was a very satisfying weekend." Earlier Sunday, most of the 19 starters who failed to finish the super-G went out at the Panorama, a sharp right turn about 40 seconds into the run. Going into the curve with too much speed made it difficult to make the next gate. Julia Mancuso, who won the super-combined in Altenmarkt-Zauchensee in 2007, also went out at that point. Her American teammate Lindsey Vonn, who has a record 12 podium finishes in super-combined including a win here in 2009, is out for the season because of a right knee injury. It was the first super-combined event of the season and the only one before the Sochi Olympics next month. The womens World Cup travels to nearby Flachau for a night slalom on Tuesday.
