Dansby Swanson homered off of Max Scherzer but the Atlanta Braves fell again to the Washington Nationals 9-3. Swanson put the Braves in front early jumping on a fastball on the inner half and driving it out to left for Atlanta first home run of the spring. Swanson went 1-for-3 in the game and had a couple of nice plays in the field including a double play that helped get the Braves out of an early jam. Scott Kazmir is hoping to add his name to the mix of players that are battling it out for one of the final spots in the Braves rotation. Kazmir got the start on Sunday and pitched around a pair of walks in a scoreless inning. Kazmir fastball was in the 87-89 range which was a nice start given that he missed virtually all of last season Eric O'Flaherty Jersey. Lucas Sims replaced Kazmir in the second and allowed a two-run single to Chris Dominguez that put the Nationals in front 2-1. Sims would pitch two innings allowing three hits and two runs to go along with two walks. He was replaced by Max Fried in the fourth who got into trouble quickly walking Howie Kendrick before serving up a two-run home run to Matt Wieters which made the score 4-1. Fried battled back getting Michael Taylor to ground out and struck out Dominguez before allowing back-to-back singles to Brian Goodwin and Trea Turner. He was then replaced by Jesse Biddle who got Bryce Harper to ground out to end the inning Orlando Cepeda Jersey. Fried lasted just 2 3 of an inning allowing three hits and two runs to go along with a walk and a strikeout. The Braves scored their second run in the fifth inning as Christian Colon walked and then moved up to second on a ground out. He then stole third and scored as the throw sailed into the outfield. Washington blew the game open in the sixth scoring five times. Luke Jackson struggled and had to deal with some shaky defense behind him as well. Jackson retired the first batter he faced and then issued a walk to Reid Brignac. Kelvin Gutierrez then grounded into what should have been an inning ending double play but Ray-Patrick Didder bobbled it leaving everyone safe http://www.bravesteamfanstore/Dan-Winkler-Jersey. Jackson wouldn retire another batter lasting just a 1 3 of an inning while allowing three hits and five runs (four earned) with two walks. Atlanta final run came in the top half of the eighth when Carlos Franco hit a solo home run to left to cut the deficit to 9-3. The Braves finished with just five hits on the afternoon. Preston Tucker went 2-for-3 with a double. Ronald Acuña and Austin Riley combined to go 0-for-7 at the plate with four strikeouts.
