The design concept of these Drop Jordan are over two decades in the making and were coined from a popular 1992 commercial by a food and beverage company called Gatorade. In a bid to pay homage to NBA legend Michael Jordan, the sports-themed manufacturer came up with the Gatorade advertisement that featured some of Jordan’s high-class dunking coupled with a special jungle book inspired song called “Be like Mike” that was born from the original “I wanna Be Like You”.

Twenty-five years on and the famous commercial is set for reincarnation in the form of the Air Jordan 11 Win Like 96 “Like Mike”. It is widely believed that the shoes have been some time coming with the 50th anniversary reformatted digital version of the commercial at the NBA All-Star celebrations believed by many to be the smoke before the fire. The sneakers epitomize everything the advertisement stood for i.e. respect, hard work and sheer class and were meant to actualize all that Michael Jordan stood for in the form of an immortalized stunning piece of footwear.

The sole, on the other hand, continues the white color scheme of the upper body albeit with grey patterns along the edges and a prominent Jumpman right at the middle that caps of a beautiful showing. As a subtle tribute to Gatorade, these jordans come with a customized pair of lace locks that very much resemble the company’s squeeze bottle. And that’s not all as the Buty Jordan Sklep “Like Mike” still has a neat trick up its sleeve in the form of a nostalgic message embedded on the interior of the sneaker’s tongue that reads “If I could Be”.
